Tony Martin is now the councillor for Penryn East and Mylor.

“I’m over the moon,” said Mr Martin, who beat rival Judith Whiteley into the seat by 174 votes.

“I want to save the fire station in Falmouth and keep the night cover, I want to keep council tax as it is and get a sports stadium for Cornwall to encourage talented youngsters.”
Tony Martin, Conservative.

‘I certainly support the principle of the campaign itself and would do all I can to support those who are working towards it’
Cornish MP, Andrew George

‘Cornwall does need a stadium! Our facilities are currently very poor and we should serve our community better’.
Miss Sandy Angove, Liberal Democrat, St Just, Cornwall.

‘Considering our sporting tradition it is only fitting we have a stadium of our very own. I support this campaign whole heartedly!’
From Ms Tamsin Williams, Liberal Democrat, Penzance, Cornwall.

‘I think it is great what you are doing. I have signed the petition and have already had my department looking into a Stadium for Cornwall and working with the Cornwall Pirates and Truro City Football club.

We have already commissioned and received a feasibility study which the new council will be able to use. We need to lobby the South West Regional Development Agency and work hard in making a stadium a priority for Cornwall Council after 4th June’.
Good luck – One & All!
From Mr Andrew Mitchell, Liberal Democrat, Executive Member – Economy.

‘In Looe and South East Cornwall we have a thriving football and rugby set up in particular from under 8’s upwards. Dedicated families support these young people in a pastime that builds self- esteem, confidence and is healthy. A Cornish stadium and centre of excellence would be a focus for sporting activity in Cornwall.’
Edwina Hannaford, Liberal Democrat, Looe, Cornwall

‘Stadium for Cornwall - Cornwall Council could build a modern sports stadium for Cornwall, to the benefit of One and All;  I am actively supporting the campaign for a Stadium for Cornwall.’
Cornelius Olivier, Labour, Penzance Central, Cornwall. (From canvassing flyer.)

‘I fully support this excellent initiative. Cornwall needs and deserves a first class facility’.
David Nebesnuick - Conservative candidate, Penzance Central, Cornwall

‘Cornwall, with over half a million residents, needs a sporting focus which can be used by a number of professional sporting organisations’.
Conan Jenkin - Mebyon Kernow -Truro, Cornwall. . (Deputy Leader - Services)

A good idea in principle if it’s feasible. Let us make absolutely sure, however, that there are NO private vested interests involved. It must be publicly funded and owned - otherwise it is always going to be far too vulnerable and open to criticism. Above all else, this is critical to its prospective success.
